Note: You are required to support each answer using at least two sources from the textbook or with sources provided in the course. Always mention the title of your source(s) and the author(s) in each response. Along with your citations, this will help you avoid plagiarism.

Also, try to support each question with one short (1-2 line) quote from each source. Remember quotes must be used properly. You should never simply quote something. Make the quote part of your response, by incorporating it into a sentence. Here is an example: "According to [insert source and author],..." Do not over quote.

 1. In Chapter 4, answer one question for "Voices of Freedom: from The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African" or for "Voices of Freedom: From Pontiac, Speeches."

1. What element of Indian life does Neolin criticize most strongly?

According to Foner in Give me Liberty, Neolin said “ My children you have forgotten the customs and triditions of your forefathers.” He asks why did you stop clothing yourself in skins, use bow and arrows and the stone pointed lances. He found it against the Indian believe that they also began to drink alcohol or “fire water.”[1] During these times the Indians began to trade between the settlers and they obtained guns, knives, blankets, and alcohol from the white settlers. Neolin was a religious prophet who brought up these issues to help inspire the Pontiac Rebellion.[2] He wanted the Indian to go back to their traditions and segregate themselves from the white man and return to their customs.
