War of 1812

The war of 1812 was fought for many reasons. However, one of the main reasons for the war was the Impression Issue which  was an act where the British government would kidnap American sailors and forcibly induct them into the Royal British Navy. The United States’ desire to gain more territory and issues involving the British and Native Americans in the West and recurring British interference with U.S. trade were also reasons for the declaration of war against the British in 1812.

Was the War of 1812 necessary? The war of 1812 was not necessary because nothing was really changed by the war and most of the its effects on the United States were negative. It caused the U.S. economy to halt and costed men their lives in an aimless pursuit by the U.S. to establish themselves as a world power. In general, even though the War of 1812 gave the United States a chance to show their military might and power to the world it did little to solve the real issues that got the United  States involved in the war in  the first place.

What were the reasons for the war and were they justified? The reasons for the war had a lot to do with the British Impressment, land issues in the West, and the British interfering with American trade. Despite these reasons for going to war with the British the war was not justifiable in the end because no good came of the war as far as the United States is concerned because like I said before it negatively affected the U.S. economy, it costed the lives of men, and no land was gained by the end conflict.

What were the positive results of the war for the Americans?The Treaty of Ghent, ending the War of 1812, restored British and American relations to what they had been before the war began. While not solving any of the problems that caused the war, the Battle of New Orleans victory, followed by news of the Treaty of Ghent, caused the Americans increased pride and led to a developing nationalism and expansion westward.
