Anne Frank: The Story of a Young Girl

Anne Frank was a young girl living in a world where her kind was not wanted. She was

known for her famous diary that she wrote while in hiding from anti-Jewish persecutions in Amsterdam during World War II, known as the Jewish Holocaust. Her diary describes the wisdom and humor the two difficult years her and her family spent in hiding. Her diary proves how motivational she is, how to see the good in every situation and shows people to never give up and to stay strong. In Anne Frank, the Diary of a Young Girl, Anne demonstrates “the art of living” through her words, actions, and goals.

Despite the hardships Anne endures, she continues to make the most of each day. She was a very optimistic person, seeing the good in situations. For example, on January 13th, the war rages on. Anne observes that families are being torn apart as the Nazis draft young Dutch men to fight in the German army, and as they send more and more Jews to concentration camps. Anne again reflects that her family is quite lucky to have food and shelter while many go hungry (Frank). Even though bad was being done to those around her, she took the time to be thankful for what she had. “I don’t think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains” (Frank). This quote proves what Frank’s ideal on living is and shows people to not just focus on all the bad things that are happening but to cherish all the good in it.

Anne also uses her writing as a way to continue living. Her actions and thoughtfulness how much of an amazing person she was. “The children round here only have thin shirts and wooden shoes - no coats or socks. There is no one to help them. They are always hungry, and ask people on the streets for bread. I could tell you more about the suffering that the war has brought, but it would make me too sad. All we can do is to wait patiently until it is over.” (Frank 79). Anne was a strong person who had compassion. She feels sorry for what’s happening to people. She was selfless.

Although Anne does not survive the Holocaust, she never gave up. She wanted to make sure the world became a better place. “What is done cannot be undone, but one can prevent it happening again” (Frank). She did not wish to travel back in time to stop the Holocaust from happening, but instead she embraced it and wished for a away so the same thing does not happen later on in life. Frank was always positive and believe in the goods of this cruel world. Others agreed on how Anne’s personality was inspirational “Anne Frank has become a symbol for the lost promise of the children who died in the Holocaust.” (United States Holocaust ). Anne had hoped for people to turn around and make the world a better place than it was at the time. “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the

world” (Frank). Another example on how she wanted to world to be a better place. Reading her diary gives readers an idea on how she wanted to make a difference. “She didn't think others would be reading it. She wrote about her feelings, books she read, and the people around

her.” ( Biography: For Kids). During her time in hiding, she could have just cared for herself and not care about what happens to other people. She took the time out to write about others too. She spoke up for the younger generation, “We aren’t allowed to have any opinions. People can tell you to keep your mouth shut, but it doesn’t stop you having your own opinion.
