The Population Growth and Its Effect on Development

There are three different types of countries in the world, developed, developing or undeveloped. There are many different reasons to why a country is undeveloped.

One reason could be the country's population growth. To understand what the relationship between population growth and development is, you need to understand what development and population growth means. Development means that a country is advanced in terms of infrastructure, income per capita and standards of living. Population growth is the increase in a country's population during a period of time. So what is the relationship between them? It would be if a country is developed the population is most likely balanced with the resources and available jobs but if the country in undeveloped the country is most likely overpopulated so there is not enough resources or many go unemployed making the country undeveloped.

Overpopulation can cause shortage in the non-renewable resources, such as oil, natural gas and coal, lower the life expectancy and loss of freshwater. All of these problems are linked to the development in a country, especially slowing down the development. Overpopulation can be caused by rapid population growth which can cause property and food shortage. There is very short time to prepare, that is why it is so important to try to decrease the population of overpopulated countries so they are able to develop normally. There are also some countries that are underpopulated and count on the immigrants to work and pay rent to the government, because the actual citizens are not enough for the government.

Some countries that experienced or are experiencing rapid population growth or overpopulation have been successful to decrease their population and some not. A country that has been successful to decrease their population in the last few years is China. Because of their one child policy, allowing the parents to only have one child, China is no longer
