A Young Frontrunner's Tale

"Take me to your leader," said a young freedom fighter to a group of villagers... "And try to understand what is going all over the country. Don't be afraid, be complying and just go ahead to form an independent state", After listening that they want to protect their village, villagers and above all, their country from the ruffian Pakistan military's bloodshed but they don't know what they should do because they don't have any leader to lead them from the front at the time of guerrilla operation.

The young freedom fighter was just 15 years old; name Kabir Hassan, born in a higher middle class family of Mona and Miner Hassan. His Father died of cancer when he was ten. He was a smart kid of a smart mother, who was a Headmistress of a well-known girl's school in Dhaka. Though it is too difficult to realize the impact of war for such a young boy but he was exceptional. By birth, he was fearless, patriot and he had an admirable temperament to lead a group of people.

At the end of the day of 24th March in 1971, the Black Night (25th march) crept along, and Pakistan Army initiated their massive genocide in the name of "Operation Searchlight". The whole country got devastated, thousands of young guys ran away from home in the middle of the night leaving a note behind, assuring that they left to join Mukti-bahini in order to fight back the massacre. Kabir Hassan was not one of them. He constantly attempted to convince his mother to give him the permission to take part in the war. When she finally agreed on 19 April 1971, he crossed the border to receive guerrilla trainings in Melaghar, Agartala under sector-2, whose in-charge was Khaled Mosharraf and Rashid Haider. After completing his training, strongly influenced by books of Mao Se Tung and Che Guevara, he returned to Dhaka and joined the "Crack Platoon", was a guerrilla group that conducts major operations in Dhaka against Pakistan Army. Only the best guerrillas got opportunities in the "Crack Platoon", and Kabir Hassan was one of them. His gallantry and efficacious missions made him an icon to his companion warriors.

It was the middle month of September, the in-charge of "Crack Platoon" decided to send a brave battler to remote corner of the country; Kabir Hassan raised his hands to participate in this assignment. He was sent to Rangpur a District of North Bengal, under sector-6 (Wing Commander M Khademul Bashar), subsector-3 Sahebganj (Captain Nawazesh Uddin). When he arrived, got an obligation to go in a rural community so-called Rupnagor, when he reached there, he found the villagers in miserable condition and noticed that they were searching a way to rescue their village and women-folk from genocide of ruffian Pakistani military. After observing them, he was informed that they were expected to have a leader who can lead from the front at the time of warfare, for this reason, he offered them to accept him as their leader. At first they took his speech as mockery because of his Slight age but when they realized that he was brave and had a superb personality to lead them then they accepted him cordially as their leader. Without delay he assembled a guerrilla group and trained them. He and the group of trained guerrilla together started guerrilla operation against Pakistani army and Razakar forces (volunteers of Pakistani armed).In the middle point of the village, there was a government primary school, it was the camp of Pakistani army and they run their all of operations through the village Rupnagor from the primary school camp.
