The film Pan is a prequel to the legendary story of Peter Pan that we all have come to know and love. Pan takes us to London in 1928 to an orphanage where viewers watch as Peter starts out as a hopeless orphan and becomes, the one and only, Peter Pan of Neverland.

Demographics and Psychographics:

According to the Motion Picture Association of Americas Theatrical Statistics of 2014 the majority of moviegoers are caucasian women. Women made up 53% of ticket sales in 2014. The majority age range for ticket buyers runs from 18-39 years of age. The target audience for the movie Pan will be families, specifically, mothers, ranging from 18-39 years old whom have children +4 years old. Heavy moviegoers are more active and social in their everyday environment. These are the people that enjoy taking part in activities such as attending parties, going out to dinner with friends, going bowling, cooking outside or going on hikes. Because moviegoers are more active and social they also are more self-confident and optimistic than non-moviegoers. Moviegoers are also more likely to have disposable income and likely to keep up with social trends of society and stay informed.

Public Relations Event #1:

Treehouse World, located in West Chester, has agreed to sponsor an opening event within their facility promoting the film Pan on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Treehouse World agreed to sponsor this event in order to expand awareness throughout the town of West Chester and surrounding areas in order to increase sales throughout the year. They have also agreed to decorate their entire location to resemble Neverland for all of the children that wish to attend. Those who attend will receive a free pass if they bring a new toy to donate to the Toys for Tots organization in order to help children that are less fortunate.

This idea stemmed from the movie Pan as Peter is an orphan in the film.  All of the children will also be encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters. They will also be able to take part in all activities available such as tomahawk axe throwing, a scavenger hunt, sign painting and woodworking projects all made to be relevant to the movie Pan. The largest Treehouse on site will be made to resemble the Jolly Roger, the ship that saved the remaining orphans, the Lost Boys, at the end of the film.

In order to achieve the goal of maximizing awareness of Treehouse World, and this specific event, media advisories and press releases have been sent to local news and radio stations, such as, the Daily Local, CBS and ABC news. The press release gave a detailed description of the Neverland event that will take place on November 1, at Treehouse World. The press release also thoroughly explained the importance of bringing a toy to donate to Toys for Tots in order to give less fortunate children hope during the holiday season.  The media advisory gave a brief description of the Treehouse World’s Neverland event and gave the specific time, date and location that the event will take place. Additional contact information was also provided. A newspaper ad was also placed in the Daily Local to increase awareness of the upcoming event. Flyers were distributed among local family restaurants in order to reach the intended target audience of families in the surrounding area.
