The Monuments Men

Frank Stokes knows very well the significance of art in the culture of their country. They may have saved their country, but winning the war would be meaningless without the artworks that represent 1000 years of their culture. The monuments men believed that there are more important things than just winning. They may have saved their country, but not their culture.

Industrial engineers are similar to the monuments men in a way that they know there are more important aspects in the company that the owners may fail to see. It is the job of an IE to create a better way of doing things in order to improve efficiency and productivity and in turn, increase profits. However, there will be times that change will be hard to implement because people naturally resist change. Even I don’t want change because most of the time, I am so used to the way I do things that I feel it will be unnecessary to change it. That is why even if we think we are right, it may be hard to get support from the people. Some of our ways may not be understood by the administration because they may not see the bigger picture and the future benefits of implementing changes in a company, which we are able to see, just like how the monuments men saw the importance of the art pieces in their culture.
