Lifestyle Analysis Project Part 4

By Baylor Pait

My activity level that was calculated for my three days’ worth of data was 781 Kcals. The energy balance that I could determine within my body during those three days was calculated by my average caloric intake and estimated caloric need. While my average caloric intake was 1,750 Kcals, my estimated caloric need 2,817 meaning that I was 1,067 Kcals below my caloric need. This meant that I have a negative energy balance which could potentially decrease my bone mass, decline my metabolism, reduce thyroid hormones, reduce physical performance, and cause an inability to concentrate. For my carbohydrate intake for the three days I was under the 45%-65% by 17%. The minimum grams of carbohydrates I needed to consume per day was 158.2 and I was at 168.04 meaning that I was getting the needed amount of carbohydrates for those three days.  With having the needed amount my body will be able to fuel most of my body functions and help with body tissues. The chronic diseases associated with not enough carbohydrates overtime are dental carries and noninsulin-dependent diabetes. My fat percentage for my three day record was within the recommended daily value needed to provide my body with the required nutrients. My poly, mono, saturated fat, and cholesterol intake was all within the ranges it needed to be meaning that the fat in my body is enough to be used as my bodies muscular work, cushioning my body from injuries, transporting of fat-soluble substances, and serving as raw materials. Chronic diseases associated with not enough fats over time can be heart disease .My protein from my three-day record was 52.8 grams while my body needs about 63.28 grams to help sustain itself. With having less protein than normal my body will have a harder time building the proteins of new tissues, less structure and movement, less enzymes to act as catalyst in reactions within the body, and make less antibodies to fight off diseases and other viruses. Chronic diseases associated with not enough protein over time are Marasmus, Kwashiorkor, and Cachexia. With all the things that these nutrients do for your body and diseases you can get from not enough I will need to make sure that I am staying on the right track with getting the right amount of nutrients and keeping a balanced diet.

My dietary fiber is right where in needs to be within the recommended daily value. That is a really good thing because that means that my body will get rid of its waste in a manner that is usual to the body and I will be neither constipated nor have diarrhea. With the consumption of the regular amount of fiber then the chronic diseases associated with it decrease by a major proportion.

For the nutrients category of my three-day record it varied by nutrient. For folate was I was under the recommended vaule by 300 mcg, calcium I was under by 1,150 mgs, vitamin D there was no data for, iron I was under by about 5 mgs, sodium I was over by about 300 mgs, and potassium I was under by about 4,000 mgs. Since I am under on a lot of these nutrients the negative effects have an increased chance to affect me. Some increased risks I am at are osteoporosis, prostate cancer, hyponatremia, prehypertension/hypertension, and iron-deficiency anemia.
