A   Summary of McDonalds:

McDonalds is the food industry which is widely spread all over the world today. Considering the factors responsible for the success of the company would be very interesting. However, understanding every aspect of the company would be better before researching more about the organization

Simply to explain the type of Business, The Corporation of McDonald's is in the hamburger fast-food restaurant business. The brand mission of McDonald's is to "be our customers' favourite place and way to eat and drink", as per the corporate website. The first restaurant is opened by Dick and Mac McDonald in 1948, with hamburgers, its 15-cent specialty the staple of the menu. The operation has expanded globally to over 35,000 locations, as of 2014. McDonald’s serves nearly 70 million people every day within more than 100 countries to where it is expanded and 80% of Restaurants are franchised. The expansion and the people made McDonald’s the world's largest fast-food chain.

2   Level of Competition:

The competition of McDonald’s is with national, international, regional and local retailers of food products. The main source of competition with the other restaurants are convenience, price, service, product quality and menu variety in a highly structured industry worldwide. McDonald’s Corporation runs McDonald’s which is one of the quick service restaurants that competes directly with fast food restaurants such as Wendy’s, Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell and Subway. It also competes with Fast Casual restaurants like Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. and Panera Bread Company. The quick-service restaurant with an offering overlapping with McDonald’s is Starbucks Corporation. Fragmented market is also the competition with McDonalds of dining and takeout casual restaurants. Internationally, McDonalds competes with some of the largest fast food chains along with the smaller local restaurants and regional competitors.

The main competition in the food chain industry is between McDonalds and Starbucks, as Starbucks takes the second position in the competition with the first position taken by McDonalds.

Competition between McDonald’s and Starbucks:

The world’s largest coffee house chain is Starbucks by operating 22,500 stores in 65 different countries. The reported revenue of $16.4 billion in 2014, making it as second highest-selling U.S. chain restaurant with first highest as McDonald’s with the revenue of $27.4 billion.
