I think I finally found out what it means when a parent quotes this famous” a hard head makes a soft behind or you will surely find out the hard way”. Early on my grandmother would always try to steer from down the path I was headed, but see myself I had other plans. At sixteen I wasn’t worried about the right things, at that age I was more concerned about three things and not always in this particular order; fast money, fast cars and fast girls, this was the life and mentality of my friends and I everyday and every night.
That night though on the 17th of September around twelve o’clock, I think was the defining moment of my teenage life. The night started off with a bad omen; Joe, Roy and myself found ourselves on the wrong side of a barrel of a 44 magnum hand gun, at that moment you would think that would be the turning point of any normal sixteen year olds life, seeing your life literally flash before your eyes and thinking about all the things you’ve done and all the pain you’ve caused love ones, thinking its all going to end at sixteen, thing was we didn’t have the mindset of normal sixteen year olds, maybe at the time I guess we were just products of our environment and situations like this was normal everyday life for us.
After all these things had finished flashing through my mind, I finally realized that we were only robbed of material things and not our lives. You would think that after that we all would have just went inside to rest our nerves and reflect on what just happened, but not us we just stayed outside talking about what just happened among other things like any other day, sure it was a scary moment for all of us, but it was a part of our life and environment, while engaged in our horse playing and talking we heard POP, POP, POP we all
