Battle of Fredericksburg

The Battle of Fredericksburg a battle that took place during the Civil War was from the date of December 11 to December 15th in 1862. It took place in the current state Virginia in the North East region of the state. The battle was one of the early battles of the Civil War that had a significant victory for the confederates. It’s one of the largest battles that had a total of 200,000 soldiers fighting in it.The battle was a large war zone with many casualties, the confederate army having an estimated 12,353 people missing, killed, or wounded. The north also had a lot of casualties of around 5,377 missing, killed, or wounded. Strategies of both parties was basic, but effective the, Union charged up a hill to capture Richmond while the Confederates withdrew to the top of the hill and shot down upon the Union soldiers 6 times. The Union army had to retreat, and suffered another defeat to the Confederate army. Both Generals of the armies at this point in the war are famous even today with the Confederate army having General Lee and The North having General Burnside.
