A PROPOSAL ON HOW COMPUTER APPLICATIONS COURSE MAY BE REINSTITUTED & IMPROVED TO BETTER SERVE ADULT LEARNERS AT THE ONE-STOP EDUCATION COMMUNITY CENTER
Executive summary
The institution mentioned above has been offering different courses to adult learners. Among the courses that were being offered in this system was Computer Application studies but offering this course was declined by the school’s senate due to reduced turn-up for enrollment of the said course. All in all, there has come up a group of people who want to get trained in this same school, & they only need to be formed on the Computer Applications Course only. With this, the school has to be in a position to facilitate the students, make sure all the required resources for learning are at the disposal. Most importantly, there must be a qualified tutor(s) who is supposed to take the students through the course. Before the Senate agrees re-launching the enrollment for the course, facts, figures & detailed information about the course has to be presented to them (Cohen & Bernard 2000). Also, the details on how the institution used to teach this course to adults before. However, some reasons led to the dropping of the rate of enrollment into the system which resulted in the discontinuation of the course. These issues have to be focused on, & improvement is sought out to ensure the same does not come up after reinstatement of the course. Some important things are the model & strategies of teaching adult learners who are very different from teaching kids.
Problem statement
Some students are willing to learn the Computer Applications course in One-Stop Community Center, who are all adults. The institution had stopped offering this course due to lesser & lesser number of people turning out for enrollment every season. There has been a problem with helping adult learners, which might have been the most probable reason for the slowly declined enrollment. The new number of students wanting to join the institution should be taught with pedagogical paradigms & the school at large is supposed to regain its reputation, by improving their ways of helping adult learners mostly & also having better resources & making the environment conducive for learning.
The following are questions that the institution management is supposed to ask themselves in an attempt to make the school better: Why, how & when did the course enrollment decline? Which measures & ways did the school fail to employ in teaching adult learners in the past sessions that were taught in the history of the school? What is an essential thing to focus on in the process of reinstating the teaching of computer applications to adult learners?
Objectives
The primary purpose of this project is to restore the teaching of computer applications to adult learners. This had been happening before in One-Stop Community Center, but due to a low number of enrollments, the school was compelled to drop stop offering this course & now it wants to resume it. The next objective is to ensure that the school identifies its weak points that made it close the enrollment of the course. Determine the things it wasn’t doing that were supposed to be done to make teaching the course a success. Most importantly, the school management will have to identify ways through which adult learners can be taught effectively. The institution also has some goals to achieve, one of them being to ensure that there is a high rate of enrollment of students & most importantly, deliver services of more top quality.
Plan of actions
The One-Stop Community Center’s board of management should undertake & implement some tasks to ensure that it reaches the destined milestone. Some of the things to do are to do some research to know what is required of them for the reinstatement of the course. The organization will have to come up with a team of experts, who can be from within the organization or hired, to conduct a thorough research & analyze the findings & present a report to the institution’s management (David J. Eck 2000). The report will then give the administration the go-ahead on the decisions to make concerning re-offering the course. Then the school will have to gather requirements; this is where they have to budget on all the required hardware & equipment needed for One-Stop Community Center to be an excellent facility. Also setting up of computer labs where studies will be taking places. The institution’s management will also be in the position of planning how many students to enroll & when to start registering them & come up with ways to advertise the enrollment. The advertisement should be eye-catching & convincing enough for people to feel the need to join the institution. The strategic order of events as they are planned to unfold is as follows:
