Experiences During Earthquake
My Experiences during the Earthquake
Carolina Rodríguez
Last Tuesday, September 19, I was in B building room 306 at UPAEP. The class started at 1:00 but I always arrived 20 minutes earlier, I left my things in the place I had chosen and as it was early I remembered I had to send homework before 4:00, therefore I decided to use the computer that was on the desk for the teacher.
At 1:00 a classmate arrived and told us that the teacher would arrive 1:15 so I continued working on the computer, most of my classmates were sitting waiting for the teacher. I remember perfectly looking at the clock and it was 1:11, suddenly I felt a vibration on the floor, but I thought someone had been running, however a partner started screaming "It is an Earthquake" and everybody quickly got up from the seats and ran to the door. In the stairs a lot of people were pushing to me, for that reason I started screaming "Don´t Push" and my friends also started screaming the same thing.
I do not like people to cry because I feel uncomfortable in addition to nervous, fortunately no one was crying, so I was quiet. We quickly went down the stairs and saw as a cleaning lady convulsing, fortunately two doctors came to help her. I did not want to do all the things to start calling my family because at that time the phone lines do not work and there was no internet. After 10 minutes we were told that we could go up our things and go home. My whole family has a group of WhatsApp, honestly I thought it was a stupid idea, but I realized that it is very useful because we could report and know that all my family including my parents and my brother were fine.
