Nat Turner was an en-slaved African working on a southern plantation in 1831. He was brought up taught that slavery was wrong growing up and he learned to read and write by his masters son. He believed that he would one day start a rebellion against slavery to try and stop it. On August 31rst a solar eclipse made Turner believe that it was a message from god to start a rebellion. He launched his rebellion that same day and killed over 50 white men that were for slavery. Nat hoped that this action would get more people to join his rebellion, but only about 75 other African Americans joined in with him.
