In 1821, Mexico became a free country from Spain. Since Mexico had finally become free, they wanted to increase the population. As a solution, they invited settlers from the United States. Soon enough, this solution turned into a problem since the Mexicans wanted everyone in their territory Catholic and anti- slavery but most of the United States were protestant and pro-slavery. Through this conflict, many revolts happened, like the Alamo, which then led to the independence of Texas in 1836. When Texas requested to be part of America, many congressmen declined, as they did not want to make Mexico angry, since Mexico still believed Texas belonged to their country. But then, James K. Polk got elected for President and he strongly believed in Manifest Destiny. Soon enough, America annexed Texas, angering the Mexicans. Then, provoking them further, Polk sent troops to what they believed represented the border of Texas, and attempted to buy more parts of Mexico. To conclude, the United States unjustifiably went to war with Mexico because the US provoked the war and illegally annexed Texas.

One reason why America does not have justification in starting a war with Mexico revolves around the way that America intentionally incited the dispute between the two states. Santa Ana, the leader of the Mexican government, marked the bargain not long after the fight at The Alamo. There is an announcement from Charles Sumner which further reminds pursuers that Texas beforehand had a place with Mexico, and that they just permitted Americans to subside into the range. In this manner, Mexico had a privilege to claim the border of Texas as The Nueces River. Moreover, the way in which Americans agreeably settled onto the Mexican area indicated that America wanted to conquer this area. Overall, America took a liberal offer set forth by Mexico, and unjustifiably utilized it against them.

Another reason why the United States was not justified in going to war with Mexico is because it illegally annexed Texas. In 1845, United States of America annexed Texas into the Union. Notwithstanding, Mexico had never formally perceived Texas as a republic which created an increment in strains. Initially, Mexico consisted of Texas and Mexican government permitted outsiders to settle in their domain. Later on, the pilgrims requested more representation in the government. However, these American pilgrims did not merit as they did not hold fast to the tenets of the Mexican government. The American kept slaves even though slavery was banned in Mexico. Instead
