Bill Keane was born in New York and from upper middle class. He studied at Govt College and then he pursued MBA from Stanford University. His Initial job was with international Consulting firm. His first assignment was with Lyon, Churchman and Associates (LCA), West Coast importers of Diamonds. After his first assignment he joined the same company. After some years he became the managing director of Szabo Diamonds in Szabo. Szabo was famous for diamond industry and was well developed industry with the help of Govt of Szabo. Govt contacts were helpful in that industry for constant growth and profitability. Szabo govt had majority interest in Szabo Diamonds. Factory operations and all managerial decision were managed by LCA.

Situation one Bill had to contact govt ministers connected with mining and exporting. Friendship with minister, partially based on mutual favors, was most helpful in both the short and the long terms. During his visit to a particularly important govt minister after a regular talk, he was asked to take the 60 carat diamond out of country for him for a fee. Bill was in strange situation. He has developed strong relations with ministers and govt. for his company. He has to take care of those relations which are very important for future growth. But he has also take care of business ethics and his own view over the matter. He should calmly say no to minister that he would not do it for a fee. And if he insist than he can manage to take diamond out of country for him by making arrangement with LCA legally under their ownership of diamond for him and all the legal charge would be taken care by company but also let him know that he could not do it again for him a or any other.

Situation Two

Szabo diamond company had hired an excellent manager, Manuel Ramon, a native of Szabo. He was reporting to Bill who was impressed by him. They both were provided individual houses by Szabo Diamond. Szabo was politically instable country. Opposition was always in intention of overturn the existing government. Recent govt had been ruling for 10 years and there were some rumors of a plot to overthrow the government. Manuel's brother Jose started living with him recently. He was leader of opposition party and well-known name in Szabo. There were also rumors of Jose's involvement in plot to overthrow government.
