Britton Bath Osler

Britton Bath Osler was born on the 19th of June in 1839 near Bond Head, Upper Canada of Reverend Featherstone Lake Osler and Ellen Free Pickton. He married Caroline Smith in 1863, and Elizabeth May in 1897 after Smith passed away in 1895. He attended the Barrie and Bond Head grammar schools as well as Reverend Arthur Hill’s private school in Bradford. He worked as a bookkeeper for a short time and attended the University of Toronto in 1858 and received a Bachelor of Laws in 1862. He was then called to the bar and set up in Dundas. On the 9th of May in 1874, he was named clerk of the peace and crown attorney of Wentworth. He was named a provincial QC in 1876 and a federal QC in 1880. However, he left his crown position to join D’Alton McCarthy’s firm, which became known as McCarthy, Osler, Hoskin, and Creelman. This firm still exists
