  1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The main aim of this report is to diversify Kathmandu in India by implementing an international business strategy, which is a Greenfield venture after analyzing the macro and micro environment of the country.

Kathmandu has a large chain of retail stores  dealing in clothing and equipment related with travel and adventure with more than 155+ stores , it has wide distribution network throughout and is listed under NZ AND AUS stock exchange since 2009.As a strategy we decided to move Kathmandu to India for their operations and it has its strong command over its products which might be profitable to enter the emerging market like Northern western and eastern India despite of certain factors like weather conditions, inflation rates , government policies for foreign entrants and taxes which might be challenging for Kathmandu at initial stages but due its leadership in unique product for adventure and travel they have huge opportunity  to explore different dimension of new market. On , the other hand Kathmandu is the international brand and public holds its 51 % share so it will enter new market as an wholly owned operations and subsidiaries  .Kathmandu has the capability to attract  investors from foreign markets apart from NZ ,AUS AND UK as it might get listed under national stock exchange in its future endeavors. This would be a stepping stone for Kathmandu after analyzing of different factors such as competitors and existing rivalry discussed below.

Being committed to sustainability and having been a responsible organization which creates value in the market through social initiatives by reducing emissions, using more of paper bags and tied up with various foundation who are committed for the same will create a extra ordinary image for entering a new market as a subsidiary. Feedback and responses from the people, organization will open up new   possibilities to venture with new brands, open its subsidiary, getting funding and further expansions networking.
