Griffith Mobile Home Services is a small company that installs manufactured homes in Phoenix-Metro area. Recently, they decided to change their business over to a Limited Liability Company instead of operating as a sole proprietorship, which had been the case for many years.

The first step in this process was going to the Arizona Corporation Commission web site where they were able to look up all the business formation codes that pertained to an LLC. The form codes that pertained to an LLC were 29-601 thru 29-615 which described everything from the definition of an LLC to a certificate of good standing.

Next my parents, which own Griffith Mobile Home Service, had to file an Article of Organization with the Arizona Corporation Commission which is located at 1200 West Washington in downtown Phoenix. Once they did this they then had to have the Article of Organization in the Arizona Republic for three different publications.

Once the Article of Organization was posted in the paper, my parents then had to file a notarized Affidavit of Publication with the Arizona Commerce Commission which proved that they had publicized their organization.

Once this was done, they received a new federal tax ID number. They also had to obtain an Arizona withho0lding number and an Arizona unemployment number since they would be paying wages to my father and my brother-in-law. They also had to file an Arizona Joint Tax application with the Arizona Department of Revenue.

The Arizona Corporation Commission holds all filing reports which are available for public viewing on their website. One can go to http://www.cc.state.az.us and then scroll down the list on the left hand side until they reach corporate records. Once there, they can go to corporations annual reports by name search. After clicking there they can either scroll down until they find the company they are looking for or they can put the companies name in the search box. If the company is listed with the ACC, their information will be listed such as this:
