Chevron Supply Chain Analysis

Chevron Supply Chain Analysis Project:

How good is your supply chain?

The Task:

This is an individual assignment. Pick a supply chain or part of a supply chain that pertains to your organization within Chevron. The term supply chain includes suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers or distributors, retailers, carriers, warehousers, and other third parties. They can be in the same channel or different channels. So your analysis may go beyond your own organization into other parts of Chevron, for example. Approach your analysis from the perspective of how your organization would view this complete supply chain or this part of the overall supply chain.

You may, of course, use primary data gathered from within your company. For parts of the supply chain of which you have no direct knowledge, use the literature and other secondary sources. Please note your sources.

Learning Objectives:

To apply supply chain management concepts discussed in the course to your company.

To be able to examine information about how your supply chain members relate to one another. This may well involve deducing how the channel operates rather than relying on direct statements.

To solidify your understanding of what a supply chain is and what makes a supply chain work effectively; that is, how and why a supply chain is put together and what it takes to make it work (designing, developing and executing the supply chain).

To provide insight into improvement opportunities for your own organization

Deliverable:

In no more than two pages:

1. Describe the existing supply chain

2. Draw a diagram or process map of the supply
