Look at figure 3.3 on page 75 in the text book. What do you see? A beautiful woman, or an old woman? What you see is your perception. All perception is, is the mental image that we see in the world. Everyones' mental image happens to be different depending on the natural or exspences of each person. There are two key elements that influence our perception, attention and organization.

Attention, effects our perception by What grabs us. Our minds must unconsciously filtering out what is going on around us. We heard sounds, see colors, shapes, and smell smells that make us aware of our perception. Sit there and lisen to the room for a second. What do you hear? Prohaps the buzzing of the lights, Someone coughing, sneezing, or just breathing. The way the sound makes us feel is our perception of that sound. Let try something else like look at someones' cloths. Notice the bright or dark colors that the person is wearing. Also notice the texture of the clothing. Think on how the clothing makes you feel. Do you think that person is dress nicely and may have the money to buy nice new cloths. Do you think that they may be poor, because

the cloths are feated and old. perhaps that person just cataul with everyday work wear. Our perception is what we think or know to be true of there clothing.

Organization becomes what we are aware of in a considerable pre-process oder. This is done by our brain, porcessing the order in which we receive

the information. Lets go back to the sound of the room. Lisen on what you hear first. Do you hear the buzzing first, someone coughing or sneezing. Or do you hear your own breath or the person next to you. Our perception is effected by the order we receive

the information. Here is another factor that plays the organizattion and the effect of perception. Our knowledge of what we already know.
