Change Simulation Paper

How to manage the organization is the future demand of the market due to rapid development of market economy. This is very important for leaders of small and large organizations, because they should have ability to change and adapt the environment according to market demand. To improve our learning skill we do change simulation exercise that gives us opportunity how to manage and lead in an organization and how you can use your power that can influence maximum number of your organization.

We were in between high and low level, we influence our decision to some extent but I think in our group there was a little bit conflict. We just have a new group member as it can be happened in real life, that effects our decision and we couldn’t do best that we can do.

Week 0-1 we start from doing personal interviews, for this we select those people that can interact at each level of organization and that was good to start and we get 4 points.

Week 3-4  At this point we were confused so we thought to take consultant support that will help us to understand the future strategy , how we should deal with our organization .This step give us some people that our in favor of  our new opinion for company. That was also a good point to start and move ahead. At the end of week 04 our credibility increases. Then we conduct some private interviews that resist our point of view. By building a coalition of support we earned some points in influencing people.

As we move forward at this point there is high need to clarify the organization goals to every employee of the organization, this take8 week but at a cost of huge number influenced. And we earn maximum point at this step. In our group then there is charisma to think about more how we can maintain the credibility and influence as much as we can.

In our case the problem was that although we were at higher authority and in power but we are not directly attached to the low level base level management. We have contact with middle management and then these people can impact the lower management, so we have to pass through these to spread our message to the lowest level.

After clearing the organizational goals we were in the position to run the pilot project, but still facing resistance from higher management. So this decision was useless at this point. So in next week we privately confront the resister, to talk and change their mind of view but not get what we want to achieve with 0 points. Then we thought we should walk and talk to whole organization, that was good step and we found many supporter in our team.

Again we take support from consultant and then we announce goals and deadlines, because we thought half of the time gone so it’s best to announce at center so we can work on that, although in my opinion we should do this at start and then take another steps so when there is a goal then there is motivation to achieve it otherwise you are moving behind nothing.

By the end of week 36 our group decides to hold town hall meeting that will address the whole organization. Our thinking was to use minimum time to earn maximum points, but this was not the right strategy at this point sometime when we are in power we have to take risk to get the more influence . This was the time to recognize the adopter , and we only got one person that was in our favor in whole organization, we were surprised because the time was just passing and we cannot able to get what we want to achieve. So we use the expert power and tell the success story, this again maintain our credibility with some influence.
