John Doe Smith
University of Phoenix
There are many factors that led me to pursue my MBA from the University of Phoenix. I would first like to introduce myself and give a little background information before going into specific details about my reasons for obtaining my MBA. I am currently employed by XYZ Company, as an Account Clerk in the accounting department located in Any City, Any State. I began working for XYZ Company in the summer of 2001 where I was employed as a Marketing Specialist for the XYZ Company Marketing Division. A budget crisis in the summer of 2002 had eliminated my position and XYZ Company policy forced me into a rifted position. This shift reduced my salary one grade level and I was now an Account Clerk with the Finance Department. I was officially demoted in the summer of 2002 according to XYZ Company. I have had the desire to move upward towards my level of experience and education, which is in the field of Informational Technology and Business Management. After five years and one hundred job applications within the XYZ Company for upward mobility and career development, the results are discouraging to this date. There has been no feedback or job advancement opportunity within and discouragement is rampant among management. The current XYZ Company class specification educational requirement for the Account Clerk Position states, “Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree with major course work, supplemented by accounting, in business; and 1-2 years experience as a account clerk or related activities, preferably in the public sector.”(e.g., (2004) XYZ Class Specs Inc.) This position indefinitely seeks a person with an Associate’s Degree level education and
