1 Introduction

As environmental contamination has become more and more serious, cosmetics companies promise to take more liabilities for environmental conservation. However, not all cosmetics companies clearly specify the product environmentally friendly on their websites.

1.2 Purpose

Sustainable environment policy of three different cosmetics companies, Nivea, The Body Shop and P&G websites will be contrasted and appraised in this report.

2.1 Procter and Gamble

The company outlines its commitment to the environment, including we’re focused on, Brand Efforts, Supplier Efforts, and Environmental Policies & Practices.

2.2 THE BODY SHOP

This website is a British cosmetics, skin care and perfume company which is owned by Natura, THE BODY SHOP, which specializes in skin care. This company shows a large amount of information about environmental sustainability on their website, reader can click on about us at the top of the homepage. The company considers about many different environment protections.

2.3 NIVEA

The website of NIVEA which is owned by Beiersdorf is a German personal care brand that specializes in body-care. Limited information in the environmental sustainability can be found by clicking on about us at the top of the homepage, but they have many links to different areas on the website. The company mainly consider about palm oil problem.

3 Evaluation

3.1 Microbeads in products

The information about Microbeads cannot be searched on Nivea own website, but it can be found on its mother company(Beiersdorf) website. There are many meritorious links about Microbeads. Those links both talk about Nivea has been not used Microbeads in their products and has succeeded in replacing all Microbeads in products with environmentally friendly alternatives. P&G company website has various information about Microbead safety, but they do not refer to the sustainable environment. The news on The Body Shop website is uncomplicated, just five sentences, so the reader cannot get the distinct detail. In general, although it has problems like out-to-date, NIVEA still is the best compared to the other company website.
