What is a SWOT Analysis?
A SWOT Analysis is used to identify and analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to a business.
Some of the strengths that can be looked for when doing a SWOT Analysis are, what advantages does your company have against other businesses, and what does your company do better than others?
Some of the weaknesses that can be looked for when doing a SWOT Analysis are what does the business need to improve, what are your competitors offering that you aren’t?
Some of the opportunities that can be looked for when doing a SWOT Analysis are what changes in technologies are there that can benefit your company, what the new trends are and how can you benefit from them in your business?
Some of the threats that can be looked for when doing a SWOT Analysis are what is your competition doing better than you, how does the economy effect your business, your current income.
SWOT Analysis of Wal-Mart "Strengths"
Wal-Mart has many strengths as a retailer. Wal-Mart has a reputation for low affordable pricing and a wide variety of products. Due to this affordable pricing and wide variety of products many local community stores go out of business. This eliminates competition for Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart's retail locations are very well illuminated, organized, and stocked. This makes shopping at their store easy and pleasant and they hope will make customers come back. Wal-Mart invests time and money in training their employees. Thus making them very informative and helpful to customers which is another way to get repeat business. Wal-Mart offers a wide variety of different job positions creating numerous job openings. Wal-Mart has grown over the years and presently has 5,000 retail stores and is still growing. Wal-Mart has also expanded globally. Some of its international locations are Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Wal-Mart also has a international logistics system in which they can see how a specific product is performing.
