Many opportunities present themselves in the job market of today. One question every serious person wanting to break into the technical field is have I prepared myself for the opportunities presented? I would like to discuss the methods I am implementing to become a successful person in the technological field. Some topics I will touch on in this paper are tools of learning, understanding the technology included in your field of employment, human resources, and time management. These are just a few of the skills I need to have a firm grasp on to ensure my success in the technological field. With a constant vigilance on my part to stay educated and focus on the points mentioned above I believe I will have a jump start in the job market of today. I understand there are no guaranties in life but I can certainly improve my chances by being prepared and having a firm grasp on what is expected out of a Technical Professional of the 21st Century.
The tools of learning are very important to an individual and understanding how you learn is essential to making progress in any field.
When trying to develop a new skill understanding how you learn can save you many headaches and time. By doing a simple learning style
assessment you can understand how you learn and apply the ways you learn to specific problems. For example a person that has an easier time learning kinesthetically will probably not benefit sitting through an hour or two of lecture, they prefer to have a more hands on approach. Similarly a person that learns from an auditory learning style will not benefit from going to the lab and tearing something apart. An awareness of your personal learning style and understanding your strengths and weaknesses can provide a strong foundation of knowledge about yourself and put you on the right road to success. Independent learning is fast becoming a standard way of business training and is a valuable skill to master. Knowing how you learn can be beneficial as it points you in a direction for problem solving skills when you may be on your own. Internet classes and training are an example of independent learning both of which many people that are going into the technological field will be exposed to. Knowing yourself and understanding how you process information can alleviate many bumps in the road by giving you a direction in which to focus. By doing a simple assessment to determine were your natural learning preferences lay your experiences taking on new skills will be much more enjoyable task and give you the ability to become a lifelong learner.
It goes without saying that probably that one of the most important things to accomplish in and outside your academic career is having the knowledge to perform in your chosen tech field. The ways of implementing that knowledge will be crucial to getting a job. One of the first steps in gaining that knowledge is to attend a quality education program, and focus on becoming an academic success. Your work habits developed in school will most likely translate to your career. You must understand the systems you are working with and be able to utilize the learning you have acquired. Also you must be able to choose procedures, tools, or equipment to troubleshoot or streamline productivity. You must also be able to apply technology to a task by being able to understand intent and proper procedures for setup and operation of equipment. Education is a key element in gaining a firm foothold on this important aspect of your career you must be able to draw on your knowledge while in the
