Trends in Organizational Behavior
Numerous trends exist within organizations. In this paper two of the trends will be discussed, the influence of ethics on decision-making and the impact of technology on work-related stress. Ethics can have a big influence on decision-making in the workplace. Ethical behavior is behavior that is either morally right or morally wrong. Whether or not it recognized, people encounter ethical decisions daily. Workplace stress has increased as technological advances have increased. Changes commonly cause stress. I will explore the trend in ethics affecting decision-making and the changes that affect stress with the emphases on technology.
There are not set guidelines that define ethics. Ethics are personal. An ethical dilemma is a situation that one is faced with when a decision must be made that would be measured as unethical and maybe even illegal. “When in comes to the ethics of decision making, the criteria individuals use to define problems and the values that underlie these criteria must be considered.”(Schermerhorn, Hunt, & Osborn, 2005, 68-69/14) Everyone has their own set of values and morals.
