What is E-Business?

“Electronic Business (e-business) is the conduct of commercial transactions with the help of telecommunication systems” (Using information systems for electronic business). E-business for the Bead Bar would mean the ability to be open around the clock and reach consumers around the globe.

The Bead Bar could use e-business to increase their sales by reaching people around the world versus being limited to the local shops and franchises. The possibly of reaching the global market would allow the company to reach as many as 500 million potential consumers online. The World Wide Web makes it easy for a consumer to look at the bead bars products and make a purchase immediately no matter what time of day. This experience makes shopping convenient for a consumer 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. (Using information systems for electronic business).

“An e business web site is a convenient and relatively inexpensive way for customers to choose from a variety of options to customize a particular product” (Using information systems for electronic business). Customer service is another benefit to the Bead Bar. By using an e-business web site, customers can conveniently look up commonly asked questions or submit a question to the bead bar. In addition, this will benefit the company by reducing the amount of incoming calls to the business each day.

The technology needed for the project is a business-to consumer (B2C) model. A Bricks and Clicks model is a model that will allow the Bear Bar to not only have a physical presence, but also a virtual presence for a consumer to view and purchase merchandise online. The website would allow an option to pay with a credit card. (Using information systems for electronic business).

The benefits that this technology would produce are the convenience and options a consumer has to shop. A consumer can research the Bead Bar’s product information online before deciding to purchase. A customer can view the colors, size, and dimensions of beads and accessories. The customer can then chose to purchase the product online, or they can go to one of the companies local shops to view the product and make the purchase. (Using information systems for electronic business).

Web site traffic should be generated by viral marketing and permission marketing. “Viral marketing is a strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others” (Using information systems for electronic business). This would allow consumers of Bead Bar products to send an email or web page to friends. In addition, permission marketing would allow “potential customers [to] explicitly agree in advance to receive marketing e-mails” (Using information systems for electronic business). This method would allow the company to keep customers
