American Leadership: Obama’s Blind

No jobs and Obama said he would give the United States change. Obama is lacking in leadership. Obama is putting the “United States into debt at almost 19.3 trillion dollars by end of 2016” (Boccia 1). Putting the United States into debt at such a large amount will have Americans in trouble for years to come. America has a journalist at The Daily Signal stating, “ That’s more than $58,000 for each person that lives in the U.S. today (including children)” (Boccia 1). How could Obama put the US citizens into such a large hole? Where did all of this money go? These are all questions that Americans are asking trying to figure out what our next 10 years are going to be like. How is Obama able to give health care to everyone when before this it was the human's job to be able to go out and find health care for either themselves or their family members? Obama believes he can do this to “make America great again” however, this has created even more trouble for the US citizens. Income for the median household is down “2.3 percent or in dollar signs down $805 from 2013 to 2014” according to Ali Meyer, a journalist at the Washington Free Beacon (Meyer 2). With less income, many families are unable to afford the little items in life you may need. This is creating a downfall in businesses that are shutting down. With businesses shutting down fewer jobs are available. With people unable to afford different items, they apply for food stamps. Already the United States has around 46 million people on Food Stamps, which is a large incline from the 33 million before, giving it a 39.5% raise (Murdock 2). Many people are doing this because they do not want their family living out on the streets; if they can keep a roof over their families head they will do whatever they can. “When unemployment was rising people said enrollment would fall sharply when things got better," said Parke Wilde, an associate professor of nutrition policy at Tufts University in Boston. "That hasn’t happened” (Wilde 1) .Why is less of America owning homes? People cannot afford to live in homes because they may be able to not keep a job due to the economy or are traveling around from job to job trying to save money for the family. “This drop represents millions of people who lost homes to foreclosure, can’t get a mortgage or haven’t been able to save for a down payment”( Kolko 1). With less income coming into many homes, people are unable to afford housing, so they are turning to renting homes or apartments. Not only are people unable to afford to pay for housing but now there are “profits falling at around 64% in the fourth quarter for ObamaCare” (Japsen 1). This profit falling means that more people are needing medical attention, but are unable to pay for it.

Obama must understand and not care about what is happening outside of the White House when in one of his speeches this was stated “But the millions of Americans who are watching right now, they don’t care about politics. They have real-life concerns. Many have spent months looking for work. Others are doing their best just to scrape by -- giving up nights out with the family to save on gas or make the mortgage; postponing retirement to send a kid to college” (Obama 1). Obama is running out of time to better himself and allow something to change in the United States without adding anything worse to it. The president must find something to do without making it harder on the middle and lower classes.

As a political cartoonist, Bob Gorrell wanted to open up to his more humorous side of things when showing a picture of Obama looking like a monkey. The cartoon shows President Obama dressed up giving a speech. However, he has enlarged ears demonstrating his willingness to listen, a large mouth for all of the false words that come out of his mouth , and a small brain showing that he has no sense of what he is telling the people listening to his speech. He has a look on his face of stupidity and confusion. In the upper left-hand corner, the cartoon reads: “Congress needs to show the leadership (which I have lacked) to deal with the current debt crisis 
(which I have ignored) by reducing our massive federal budget deficit (which I helped create)” (Gorrell 1). There is then a line pointing straight at Obama’s mouth meaning that these are the words coming out of his mouth during this speech.

The theme or message Gorrell is trying to get across people’s minds is that President Obama has no idea what he is doing in office besides making it worse with his big mouth. He distinguishes this message by quoting the words coming out of his mouth making it all sound like lies. However, under each statement he has what other citizens believe he should be saying.
