Beowulf
Down in the darkness lived a growling, impatient, powerful monster named Grendel.
Grendel, ready to kill, went to Herot and found 30 Dane warriors sleeping so he took action and killed them.
Hrothgar, the king of the Danes, was sad and deserted for 12 winters after Grendel returned and killed his men.
Grendel slept in Herot at night time, but never touched Hrothgar’s, God protected, throne.
Healfdane felt sorrow for his dad, Hrothgar.
Beowulf, Higlac’s follower, strongest of the Geats, heard about Grendel’s attack and sent out boats to help the Danes.
Beowulf gathered up 14 of his strongest men to bring with him to defeat Grendel.
Beowulf being the strong leader he was, was looked up to thanks to the reputation of his father, Edgetho.
Beowulf and his men finally arrive at Herot and are called to see the king.
Grendel came from the Swampland ready to fight and kill.
As Grendel passed the hall with many people, the thought of killing once again crossed his mind.
When Grendel came upon the first Geat, he ripped him apart, tearing him to pieces.
Beowulf’s men lifted their swords ready to fight and help.
Beowulf ripped Grendel’s arm right off and the Geats all worried because they thought the blood was Beowulf’s.
Grendel escaped back to his den but was badly wounded.
Beowulf left thinking he killed Grendel and ended the Dane’s grief and sorrow.
The monster and his mom lived in a secret, windy, cliff-like den where water pours from rocks.
Big trees sway, and black clouds gathered in the sky.
Grendel’s mother is hidden back in a terrible home that no man thinks of going.
Beowulf swam for hours against big waves to Grendel’s mother’s home.
Grendel’s mother found him and clutched at him savagely, but didn’t harm him.
She carried him back to her home and bit holes in his helmet.
He threw his sword down, and fighting with his hands, struck her in the neck and instantly killed her.
Beowulf saw Grendel in pain in the far corner and chopped his head off.
Beowulf said farewell to his followers and went after the dragon.
He stood in stone arches when he got there and felt heat nobody could ever withstand.
The dragon rose hitting him with his breath first
