Beowulf, the great one who could turn those frowns up-side-down and make everyone’s worries drift away into the night. This sounds much like someone who I know very personally, and I’m sure just about everyone can relate as well. Beowulf was not only a brave solider who would fight to the death for his people, he was also like a father to them, assuring his people that things would be ok. Beowulf and my father posses many of the same characteristics. As my father is the head of my household, Beowulf was the head of his people.

One similarity is that both of them would protect their people when protection is needed. My Father has a few guns locked in the corner just in case someone tries to break in and hurt us or rob us. If he finds out that one of his kids has been violated in any way, he will go out of his way to make sure it won’t happen again. Beowulf as well would protect people when they needed it. He saved the village from the evil monster that was killing the people (Mcdonnell line 130 pg. 9). The biggest difference that my father and Beowulf has in this aspect is Beowulf would murder just about anyone that would get in his way, and my father wouldn’t murder anyone unless it was under an unimaginable circumstance. Not only do they both love their people, they both love God dearly.

Whenever my dad receives “blessings”, he thanks god and does not boast about the good in his life. God can take away just as fast as he can give. Beowulf, as well, thanks god whenever good is created in his life, never to skip this very important process (Mcdonnell line 677 pg 18). This goes to show the kind of character these two must be.
