Bullying Essay

You may not have been a victim of bullying but you might have seen in some kind of way. There are more than one type of bullying that happen all over the world. Bullying can occur in person or on the internet, but have you ever stuck up for the person getting bullied? Most people know that bullying someone is wrong and very hurtful to the victim. The bullies say that their just playing around and having fun, but does the bullied feel the same way? So why do people really do it? Is there some natural high they get off of putting others down to pump themselves up or what?

The majority of bullying happens in school, 1 in 3 students in the United States say they have been bullied at school. It has been reported the 70.6% of young people have been bullied in school. 56% of students have personally witnessed bullying in their school. 71% of students say bullying is a problem at their schools. Over half 52% of young people report cyber bullying. But 95% of teens who have witnessed bullying have ignored it. Cyber bullying is becoming more and more common because about 80% of teens have cell phones and use social media sites. This makes it easier for the bullies to attack their victim. Between 10 and 20 percent of people experience cyber bullying on a daily basis.

The people that bully others do it to make themselves feel better. They have to put someone else down so they don’t focus on their own flaws. The desire to feel like you have power over others and that you are stronger. People also might bully others because they might be getting abused at home or going through hard times at home, so they find a way to take it out on weaker people or people that won’t stick up for themselves. They feel like if I am having this happen to me why not make someone else feel my pain. But that’s not always the case. Sometimes it’s just wanting their friends to look at you like you have control over others. Some people even think it’s funny to put others down and hurt them. Bullies do it for the pleasure and power they feel when they control another humans life.

Trying to control another humans life has a lot of negative effects on that person and their self-esteem. This can lead to a lot of complications in their life. The victim can do harm to themselves and or others. 87% of students say shootings are motivated by a desire to “get back at the people who have hurt them.” And 61% of students say that shoots occur because of abuse at home.  Harassment and bullying have been linked to 75% of school shooting incidents. This also causes students to drop out and not continue their education because of the fear that people will always bully them.

While some kids drop out of school due to bullying some harm themselves, and some lead to death. This is one of the saddest things that a human being can torture another human being until they have reached the point to no return and they end their life to escape the world of hatred. People are suffering in the world enough why add on to their plate? Plus it doesn’t make it any better if you witness someone getting bullied and you say nothing. Sticking up for someone can be the most generous thing someone can do for another. You’re destroying their rights as a person. Why can’t we all just get along and help one another out and care for everyone? Why does everything have to be about who has more power?

The way to solve this is to get people to understand what they are doing to others. My solution is to get an experiment on the bullies. By having actors treat the bullies how they treated others so they know how it feels. Maybe this way they would understand how it feels to be treated like dirt. Also people that are getting bullied should befriend others getting bullied and stick together and help each other out. It would give them someone to talk to instead of bottling it up inside. The victims won’t feel as alone in the world
