When Gatsby wa a young military officer, he met Daisy for the first time and fell in love with her because of her charm, richness, and grace. He also had to lie to her about his background because he wanted to make her think that he was good enough for her. He was destined to get back Daisy so he can haver her all to himself. Gatsby devoted himself to improving his background to being rich as he had told Daisy that he was, and bought a mansion in West Egg, which he holds parties every week. He held parties at his mansion hoping one day that Daisy would go to it and that Gatsby and Daisy would be reunited once again since the time Gatsby left to go to the war.
