From my understanding of the reading, I think the author was suggesting that us, as humans, are too smart for ourselves, and are too smart for the technology that we have created. I wounder how Aldous Huxley would feel about the current technology, and how advanced it is. He makes a valid point saying “that we have raised ourselves above the brutes, to the level of human beings” , in the way that we have advanced ourselves using communication and new tools. But we are still capable of reverting back to our animalstic ways, it’s still engraved in our DNA. Just take a look at the news nowadays, people have burned buildings, and are killing each other. It’s all because we’re animals, but we’re advanced enough that we don’t go completely savage.
The dilema the author seems to suggest that our world is either becoming too smart for ourselves, or not smart enough to continue in the way that we’ve been continuing. I mean, we’re so far ahead of all other species of animals, it’s crazy. The closest ‘competition’, per say, is the monkey/gorilla species. Some are able
