What does it mean to be an individual? The answers are endless
because we are all our own self and the definition can vary. Even
dictionaries have multiple results, but it’s basically what you
believe. Even though many people have different
opinions on the subject, it is important to be an individual because
it defines who you are and there is more than one way to be an
individual.
Many people have different opinions, but to me, being an
individual means to have qualities and characteristics that
distinguish one person or thing from another. There are numerous
characteristics and traits common to two people, yet on the other
hand there are some that set them apart. There are no two
individuals that are identical, there is always something that
makes you one of a kind. For example, no two snowflakes are the
same so each one that falls is unique. Another example that shows
that many people have different opinions is that they think being
an individual means being isolated and alone, but don’t be
mistaken, it simply means having personal independence.
Even though people may think differently, it is still important to
be an individual because there are multiple ways to show your
originality. Your personality is a big part of individuality, you can
be witty, out-going, shy or secretive, either way that
