What does it take to be a better man? Integrity, honor, respect? There are many things that can make someone a better suited person than another. In this case, it is between Marc Antony and Brutus there a lot of different aspects between the two but what can make them outstand from the other. Marc Antony has many aspects that can make him better, to name a few being a general could be one or having positive views for reigning Rome after the fall of Julius Caesar. Brutus only wanted to rule Rome because the was simply jealous of the power Caesar had, and he wanted to take over that position. Marc Antony had many flaws but none that could change a persons’ mind on believing that he didn’t have good intentions after the killing of Caesar.
Marc Antony was a great war general and had led the army into the victory of the battle of Philippi, he had once been a great friend to Caesar. During both occasions Marc, had managed to keep a clear conscious because he knew what he was doing because he wanted to take out the tyrant that had been reigning so he could better reign Rome. He believed that he could better rule Rome instead of Caesar because Caesar took his power to his head instead of for the better. Another reason why he is a better person than Brutus is because he was a better politician. He knew the right things to say and to which people to say them to that is why he had his men treat Brutus’s servant with respect.
He never wanted to turn out just like Caesar, everyone knew how corrupt he was and why he wanted to stay in reign, to have control of the towns people. Caesar had been said to have been offered the crown three times but never actually took it. Cassius had hatched up the whole plan of his assassination and him and seven other men carried it out. “He was my friend, faithful and just to me: But Brutus says he was ambitious; And Brutus is an honourable man…. He hath brought many captives home to Rome”. (Shakespeare Act 3, Scene 2, Pg. 4). Another example of Marc Antony being a better person than Brutus is because Marc never tried to make another person seem crueler than another. He stood by Caesar’s side being a good friend and when he was assassinated he wanted him to be honored by the towns men. He wanted to revenge Caesar’s death even if everyone say it as a sign of freedom, he didn’t need to prove himself to anyone to show that he had pure positive intentions for Rome.
Antony had a certain charm with the towns people, he knew how to persuade everyone to change their minds on Caesar’s murders and for them to be discovered. He knew how to get in power and how to keep it. Before Marc found out of Caesar’s death, he had been notified by Brutus to meet him at the palace and there he found the body of Caesar “And, for my sake, stay here with Antony” ("Julius Caesar, Act III, Scene 2 :|: Open Source Shakespeare") Marc Antony was also a loyal man to Lepidus after Octavius proved that he didn’t like him. This proves that Marc Antony was a more loyal man then Brutus.
