MINUTES OF THE 1st NEW PRODUCTS WORKING GROUP MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 27 JANUARY 2016 AT 4.00 P.M. IN ROOM KA501

- Chairperson’s Address
The chairperson greeted to the members and pleased for their attendance. This meeting was concerned with the discussion of the new product development for marketing purposes. |

- New Product Selection
- Jarrod Low Wee Hong, as the chairperson has requested the committee to brainstorm ideas regarding new product. Tan Yin Xuen as the marketing analyst suggested the company should come out with pork meal to attract more non-Muslim customers.
- Ng Min Shieh as the secretary has objection to Tan’s point of view and stressed that the company would loss significant amount of profit as Malaysia is a Muslim country and consists majority of Malays.
- Instead of pork meal, Yap Li Foong, financial manager proposed that vegetarian meal could be a better idea for gaining company’s profit and market demand.
- The committee has agreed and accepted the vegetarian meal idea.

- Product’s Description
Goh Xian Hui as the program manager recommended that the vegetarian meal could be prepared with vegetarian meat and various organic vegetables. He also suggested that the vegetarian meal could be made in the form of burger, set meal, taco, burrito or sandwich. The chairperson decided to conduct a survey in order to determine which form of serving would be received the highest rating from the customers. |

- Target Market
- Yap Li Foong added that the vegetarian meal was acceptable for Buddhism and Hinduism especially for those have always been practicing vegetarianism.
- Meanwhile, Ng Min Shieh also mentioned that nowadays white collar do care for their health while rushing for their time. Hence, the company could gain a competitive advantage as serving a healthy fast food meal. The committee agreed and accepted that white collar should be their primary target caused the idea of selling vegetarian’s products would receive more response from them.
- Tan Yin Xuen also stated that this idea could also be a better choice for healthy lover and senior citizen as it could reduce the risk of obesity, high cholesterol level and prevent illness.

- Market Survey
- The chairperson requested the committee to prepare a questionnaire in order to obtain information and opinion from the society regarding the acceptable level of vegetarian meal, preferable form of food to be served as well as the price willing to pay.
- Tan Yin Xuen suggested to utilise the advance of technology by conducting online survey. However, Ng Min Shieh argued that the written questionnaire could have better interaction between people, besides facilitating the filing and referencing system.
- The committee agreed and accepted to use survey form.

- Task Delegation
The chairman delegated the duties of preparing the business proposal to the committee. He instructed the program manager to carry out market survey and design the questionnaire. He also assigned duty of designing marketing and promotion strategies to marketing manager. He also directed the financial manager to estimate and calculate the cost and revenue for the new product development. |

The submission date for the business proposal and survey result was fixed to two weeks later, which is 10 February 2016. |
