Queequeg a Harpooner from Nantucket, Lennie Small a poor ranch hand trying to survive in California. With both coming from different walks of life it may seem apparent they have nothing in common but in fact are very much alike. Queequeg and Lennie are both men of very large stature with unintelligent minds. The perfect combination for doing the grunt work in their communities.

As history shows the large men often held the jobs that required extreme strength. Queequeg was a very large man with super human strength. His tattoos on his face added to his intimidation factor. Lennie as well had a very large build but lacked tribal flames on his face. Is large build gave him the ability to lift grain bags which would normally take the sweat of two men to be able to lift on the wagons.

Lennie liked petting mice but was truly infatuated by rabbits George, Lennies only friend told him he would by able to tend the rabbits once they saved enough money to buy their own land. This would get Lennie to do remember he needs to listen and follows Georges instructions because with out him he would be useless. Queequeg was in a way very gullible, Captain Ahab took advantage of the storm they were stuck in and saw saint Elmo’s fire and pretended like it was him controlling it. Saint Elmo’s fire is a very rare natural occurrence which only a few people have seen, Starbuck knew what it was but did not have the power to call out the captain
