Pastor Idora Brown of Divine Deliverance is a well-spoken woman whose appearance, pitch, and gestures prove her a very intelligent speaker and a great deliverer of messages in the bible. The church is located in a small building in Washington, D.C. The congregation of Divine Deliverance was full of warm, faithful members eager to receive the message that Pastor Idora Brown came to preach.
The content of the speech, which was taken from the bible, was powerful and informative. The pastor knew how to translate the bible in terms that all could understand and appreciate. For example, she read a verse and related it things she experienced in life or events that are happening in the world today. This method is a wonderful way to help the congregation understand because many have a hard time interpreting the bible and often can appreciate the comparison of things they can relate to in their everyday life. Although the pastor’s content is related to the bible and how we should abide by it, she also used current examples.
Along with the contents of her speech, Pastor Brown’s appearance shows that she is very comfortable and confident in delivering the message. She shows her confidence in the way that she stands with her weight evenly distributed and her feet firmly on the floor. Her appearance and strong delivery shows me she is relaxed and confident. Appearing comfortable and confident gives reassurance to the congregation that she is teaching the bible in the proper way.
Pastor Brown used many gestures when she delivered her message to the congregation. She always referred to the bible by holding it up in the air and pointing to it so that the congregation knew what she was talking about in the Bible. She also waved her hands in the air often when she really felt what she were saying. The pastor is somewhat fidgety, often moving around which causes the congregation to follow her around the room. Even though she uses many gestures, she continues to keep the congregation drawn into what she is saying and keeps the sermon interesting.
While delivering her message, Pastor Brown also uses excellent eye contact, showing she is comfortable and attentive. She tends to cover the room, looking at those who are shouting out to her or standing up because of the words she is delivering. Paying attention and covering the entire room shows that
