Shallow Act of Feminism Leads Women into Dangers

“Feminism is a diverse, competing, and often opposing collection of social theories, political movements, and moral philosophies, largely motivated by or concerning the experiences of women. Feminists differ over the sources of inequality, how to attain equality, and the extent to which gender and sexual identities should be questioned and critiqued.” Besides the controversy idea from the opposite gender about feminism there is also some disagreement between women in their opinion about feminism. Camille Paglia, the author of “Rape: A Bigger Danger Than Feminists Know” shows us how feminism can lead us to a consequence that gives women disadvantages in the society. She tells women not to follow shallow minded feminists who permeate their superficial and ignorant theory of equality to every woman’s mind, especially the young ones. The author invites us to think rationally about the idea of a perfect world, without falling into feminism’s pie-in-the-sky fantasies that keep young women from seeing life as it is. There is something women cannot change. Rape is one of the disadvantages, which all the narrow-minded feminists experience due to their irrational belief. From my point of view, women should not follow the shallow act of feminism as it arises misperception about the equality of gender, it misleads women and put them in immense dangers and it is not practically suitable for all women.

Women have always been treated unfairly, harassed and sometimes an object of violence. This condition causes the act of feminism to arise and create a better place for women to live happily. Feminists say that women and men are equal, that women are capable to do everything men can do. But the truth is not like what they think. “Women will never be able to experience a world of solitary adventure…” As a woman, I agree that there are many things that women cannot do. I also agree that women are not as strong as men, and that there are particular capabilities that men have but women don’t. For instance man are physically and emotionally stronger than women, that they are able to protect themselves against violence and harassment. Women want to be specially treated rather than men. “Ladies first…” is a phrase that often leads women to inequality. This statement shows that women need special treatment and protection from the opposite gender. That’s why women will never be apart from men. We need men to help us and protect us; “Women must remedy social injustice whenever we can. But there are some things we cannot change…” I think this is what we should fight for, the injustice that women suffer, not demanding to be equal to man. In my opinion, women should realize their position in the society and sincerely accept her condition. What we should change from men’s point of view is not that we are equal to them but we are a part of them that cannot be separated. And that is why men have to respect women and treated them fairly as a human being, not an object. However, if women are treated unjustly we must look for that justice to gain our happiness.

The fatal flaw of feminism is that it force women to think that they are equally capable of everything men can do. In reality it is just a fantastical wish. “Young women are vulnerable and defenseless. Feminism has not prepared women for this…” This statement opens my mind about what feminism has not thought of. This statement helps me broaden my mind from dangers that await me. In my eyes, I see that women have biological disadvantages that can make us sexually vulnerable rather than men. I am conscious that women have often been an object of sexual harassment and assault by irresponsible and immature men. I consider rape, for instance, as the most despicable sexual assault. “Women who do not understand rape cannot defend themselves against it...” Rape is the crime of forcing another person to submit to sex acts, especially sexual intercourse. If a woman is raped, she will be damaged not only her physical being but also her mental or emotion. This is why women should not ignore the danger that lies on their path if they follow the shallow theory of feminism. Young women who know small portion of feminism and get the wrong idea about what is the real meaning
