Should online Degrees Be Cognized as Equal to Regular Face to Face Education?
Q: Should online degrees be cognized as equal to regular face to face education?
Many students choose online studies and get an online degree. Some people think those online degrees are supposed to be cognized as equal to regular face to face education while others do not think so. In my opinion, online degrees should not be regard as same as traditional degrees because students fail to do real practices during their online studies. Besides, many people cheat in their online exams when taking online courses.
To start with, most people who get online degrees do not have corresponding practical experiences, so their degrees cannot be regard as equal to traditional education degrees. Traditional education offers people opportunities to learn knowledge from classes as well as from practical experiments. People in tradition education need to attend both lectures classes and lab classes to finish their courses. For example, students who take Chemistry courses in school, need to pass paper exams and experiments exams to gain full credits. However, people can gain online degrees without doing any experiments or actual practice. People with an online degree may not have the abilities to use the knowledge they learn into practice.
In addition, it is easier to cheat in online studies, so online degrees sometimes may not be reliable. Some people who take online courses ask someone else to do the homework of courses and cheat in online exams by searching through the Internet. It is hard to tell whether people who get online degrees cover all the contents of their studies or not. Compared to online study, traditional education has strict rules of evaluation, and people need to write their exams under surveillance. It is unfair if online degrees are recognized as equal to regular face-to-face education.
