Sociology 111

I believe in change. The type of change that lets you be whomever you chose to be without letting go of how you got there. On some levels, I’m still the same person I was in middle school. On other levels, I have changed a lot.  I have developed my personally and have matured to the man I am now. The challenges I have faced taught me to stand on my own. Before us it must first be me. Although there are moments in life that we need to share with other people, I realized at early age that there is only one way for me to be me – being by myself. Like most children I felt strong as a part of a group, but as I was growing up, I started perceiving life in a different way think how it could affect the future and our next generation(136). I discovered that everything around me was changing, and then I felt that I had to change, too. A series of events followed and each of them added something to my soul. I try not to let the simple things hold me back. I believe in change but not all change is a good change.  My group of friends wasn’t a positive influence on me, and decided to separate myself from them thinking about how every can change my sister who I should show to be a leader not a follower.  I had difficulties, though, finding a positive group, so I became my own positive group.

At the beginning of high school if it wasn't for my mentor I wouldn't be where I am today. Before I got to where I am today I wasn't your average student in high school. In high school I didn't have well behavior. Then I meet this man asking why I acted the way I did. I responded saying it’s because of the people around me. I did not think much of it at the time then a couple years later he passed then having a friend treated wrongly by cops as well as me and they get way with it in fact Washington post “The year isn’t over yet, and police have already killed at least 1,023 people  many of whom were unarmed, mentally ill, and people of color. This number comes from The Guardian’s police killings database, but the Killed by Police database counts 1,096 people who have died at the hands of police so far this year. The Washington Post reports that 908 people have been shot and killed by copshttps://thinkprogress.org/this-is-how-many-people-police-have-killed-so-far-in-2016-7f1aec6b7098#.a3htg0oze . This should be something to do about this.

After hearing the news at first I thought it was a joke. I came back to school and he was gone from that point on I decided it was time to changed. The last time my mentor spoke to me he wanted me to act right so that's been my gift to him, to change my ways and want better for my life. I took his message as a life goal. The lessen that come with change is to only better or preventing a mistake I consider every bit of change is not bad change in ever bit of bad there’s a hint of good.

In addition to all that my mentor had an impact on my life. If he had not have told me to apply to college I would not be here. Today I am in college studying for international business. The man now has changed from the man I was three years ago. I chose to say focus on my future because I know that's what he would want. Not only am I doing it for him but I also do it for myself. I know that if I focus on school it can take me far in life. The day of my graduate was one of my proudest days. After that day the real world hit, I started to take things serious. When I enrolled in college I decide to continue to keep moving forward in my studies and to graduate.
