The House

Cole walked the endless highway on a starry midnight wondering about his life. Parents and stress made the boy unsorted in life. As he ponder in his thoughts he saw in the far distance a young maiden with pale skin and raven-black hair, her clothes were particularly unusual. Step by step Cole stepped quietly towards the young girl wondering why there was someone else in this area. His mind told him to ask the strange girl why she’s alone, but before he could do so she quietly shuttered “C-c-cold”. Instinctively Cole removed his large coat and gave it to the girl.

“Why are you out here alone”? Cole asked.

The little girl said nothing. She raised her finger slowly off to the vacant road pointing to a black, lightly litted house. Behind the window of the house a silhouette of a tall figure stared at Cole, the aura of the view send chills through Cole’s spine. Without a second, Cole slowly stepped back not knowing what the connections between the shadow and the girl was. However, as he did so, the plain expression of the girl’s face turned into a large grin, she then quickly skipped back to the direction of the small building.

“Wait!”, Cole shouted.

It was too late, the young girl entered the home, closing the door ever so slowly. Cole ran to the front of the building searching the premise of the home seeing if there was a way in to save the girl from that horror of the shadow. As he searched he saw a sliver line of light emitting from a room. He squinted as he looked through the crack, a blurry outline of a figure stood solid in front of him. Looking closer he jumped back, it’s face was tighten and sewed together by a poorly thread of string, embedded into its flesh holes of jagged circles and shapes was carved in where the eyes and mouth should be. The creature’s blackened eyes gazed Cole’s face through the crack then quickly stood back up to it’s original place. Suddenly, a scream could be heard from the back of the house. Cole instantly snapped back to the crack to see where it came from despite knowing the figure was there. The figure was running up the stairway going towards the sound, Cole took this moment and burst through the door to try to retrieve the dangered girl. Dust, and cobwebs flew into his face as he ran inside, though terrified he was determined to rescue the girl. Once inside Cole examined the structure, old wood flooring and black smudges across the walls, squid ink black water dripped on the rusted sink as it ooze an unknown liquid. Cole thought to himself where could the girl be hiding, while looking through every crack and canvas he heard the sound of quiet footsteps upstairs. The creek of the wooden flooring amplified as each step grew closer to the top of the stairway, the silent creature made it’s way down the stairs as it’s few fingers rubbed against the jagged, wall-papered walls. Not a second to spare Cole hid himself in the closest spot to hide, the infamous closet door showed a not so promising hiding spot, however it was his best chance to not be caught. The enclosed space was packed tight with an unknown object, its smooth, gooey texture, ran through Cole’s leg as he slowly pushed the closet’s handle
