Granny is probably the only one who had a name for a specific reason. If you include the title of the short story the reason for her name is an older woman who faces and get through tough times. Which she did from the beginning of the story to the end. Her name effects the characterization because once you grasp the meaning that is what you expect to happen from her in the story. She had four children Jimmy, Lydia, Haspy, and Cornelia none of them had their name for a specific reason. Although Cornelia was her primary caregiver. Jimmy would just ask her for business advice. Haspy was here favorite of all her kids even though he never comes home. Then, there is Lydia who only comes around majority of the time for advice about her children. Of all her children Lydia and Jimmy probably had the most impact on her character because they made her feel useful. Cornelia was the major factor when it came down to finding
