The author of The Last Song, Nicholas Sparks, is a very good writer. When you read his books you feel a sense of hopefulness, happiness, love, anger and sadness. His stories always end with tragedy but there’s also a story of love. Also, his stories are really realistic because love and tragedy is essentially a part of everyone’s life. You also get a look inside his life because, he has said that his novels are inspired by events in his family, that was the way that most of his family stories ended. Sparks makes everything simple and easy, but interesting and intriguing at the same time.

This book was a very good read because as the book continues the relationships continue to become genuine and beautiful. It also makes you truly value one's own relationship with their parents. The characters are relatable in the novel, because the reader is able to share the struggles in the lives of these people. In The Last Song, I really felt a connection to Ronnie, one of the main characters. She is going through a lot of the same problems that teenagers have to face, and it is easy for someone reading this book to feel like it is happening to themselves. Something that everyone can definitely connect to that she's going through with is falling in love. Ronnie and Will struggle at times with their relationship. They even put out the question of; “if the relationship can’t survive the long term, why on earth would it be worth the time and energy for the short term?
