The Teddbear

It was June 17, 2016 Grady’s 2nd Birthday. He wanted a teddy bear but I didn’t have the money to buy him one. It’s hard living in the ghetto and giving your child what he wants. The only way I can get him a bear is to give him mine. I went to my closet the door hanging on by a Nail and a Hinge. I walked out, and into the kitchen, I placed the bear on the table. The teddy bear was old,but Grady loved it. I told him his name was Ripples, I got the name from the glass of wine that my mother was drinking as she sat the wine glass on the table, the Wine rippled up the glass and back down. Grady embraced Ripples tight.

Grady and ripples went everywhere together, from the mall to family road trips. One Memory that I will remember forever vividly is when our dog Jacxs was out playing and got hit by a car and broke his muzzle ( The space between the eyes and the nose). With blood spewing out of his nose and mouth we were gonna wrap his nose shut, but with blood coming out of his mouth we were afraid he would get blood in his lungs. So I laid him in the back seat next to Grady’s booster seat, with a towel under him, so that my leather wouldn’t stain. Grady brought ripples with him, he was crying. As his tears were falling down his face they landed on Ripples.

I took Grady went to the bathroom and brought Ripples with him, Grady said, “ I wish you were here to talk with me” and then out of the blue Ripples looked up and said I am buddy. Days went by Grady and Ripples talked for hours and hours about how Ripples remembers all of my childhood memories. Ripples told him about the very first time he met me, when I was in the hospital with a severe case of Appendicitis. Grady enjoyed the stories that were told. That night Grady fell asleep with Ripples singing “ the Berenstain Bears”
