True Colors
In the play, “Fences” Troy Maxson is a 53-year-old African American man who provides for his family and tries to make sure his kids live a better life than he had. In this play, you see Troy as the protagonist and see how his past mistakes and failures, influence his outlook on life and affect his relationship with his family. Towards the middle of the play, Wilson risks his entire family life and begins pushing everyone around him further and further away. In the essay I will show, despite how he spoke strongly about how much he loves his family, Troy betray his family and show his true colors throughout the play.
In the play, Troy told Rose how much he loved her and had the best wife anyone can, but show his true colors and confess to Rose that he was having an affair and have a child on the way.
In the beginning of the play you see Troy as a wonderful big brother that regret taking Gabe money to buy the house the Maxson family live in. Towards the middle of the movie you see Troy true colors, when Rose confront Troy about putting Gabe in the mental hospital just to receive half of his check.
Troy throughout the whole play yells and pushes his son dreams to the curve but, towards the end of the movie after Troy dies everyone see that he just wanted better for his all his kids.
