[pic 1][pic 2]

You have to do the first quiz , after submitting the quiz review  the answers, the answer   will also have your dataset and instructions on what to do with it , it is given

The other quizzes will help you with the hypothesis tests you will submit in your report .

You have to submit the 20% report to turnitin,
Instructions for doing the report are on pages 3 to 9

Section 1 Introduction to the report

1a) Define the terms used in the report
A model answer to this section is given below ,  you cannot cut and paste it , paraphrase it

                                                                    Model answer
This report is about agents, turnitin and cheating these terms are defined below

what is an agent?

An agent is used by a business to find customers.  Some agents do more harm than good, they get customers by making promises the business cannot keep.

What is turnitin?
turnitin is text matching software designed to find out which students have simply cut and paste material from another source instead of doing the assignment properly,

what is cheating?

If a student makes any attempt increase their mark in an unfair manner they are cheating.

There are many cases where a student has a high turnitin match and the student does not cheat, For example if a student does a lot of their own work for an assignment AND pastes all the source material into the assignment the student is not cheating however the turnitin match will be high.

There are many cases where the turnitin match is low and the student does cheat for example if a student pays a website to write their assignment they are still cheating even if the turnitin match is 0.

Cheating costs an education provider money. The lecturer has to spend time  making  sure the students actually cheated before giving them 0 for cheating  Also many staff members can be involved if the student makes an appeal to change their grade

1b) Brief discussion of the data used in the report

A model answer to this section is given below ,  you cannot cut and paste it , paraphrase it

                                Model answer
this report will analyse the information Based on from  many assignments submitted  to a tertiary education provider.

The 3 variables that will be used are

1: turnitin match : this a percentage so it is between 0 and 100

When student submits an assignment the turnitin program will compare the assignment to all files on the web and all assignments submitted to turnitin,  If a student simply cuts and pastes their friends assignment  and just changes the name the match will be close to  100

2: Amount of cheating: this a percentage so it is between 0 and 100
If a student does the whole assignment themselves this is 0, If a student mainly uses other peoples work then the amount of cheating is high, Even if the student tries to hide the fact they  have cheated by using software or other tricks to make the turnitin match low , the amount of cheating is still high

3: Do the students understand the” cheating cannot be tolerated” policy , Yes or no

The “cheating cannot be tolerated” policy is designed to deter cheating.

When students cheat and don’t deny  it is easy to work out if they understand the policy,
If they do not dispute the mark of 0 and do not ask to reattempt the assignment then they understand the policy.

They do not understand the policy if they think the mark should be above 0 or they say should be allowed to resubmit for any reasons such as

“I cheated in the assignment however the assignment is worth a lot of marks and failing the assignment will make it hard to pass, I promise I will never do it again”
