Essay

This assignment is about knowing what a learning disability is all about, different definition and what is all about. Learning about different challenges that students with learning disability goes through and to see their strength and weakness I education so that one can know how to help them to learn and became a better student. I will also use their academic weakness to create a lesson plan that best fit them so that they can become a better learner.

Part one of this assignment was about what learning disabilities were all about, like the different definitions of learning disability. I came across one definition that defines learning disability has a neurological disorder. When someone is title has a disability, it is their brain that takes over a lot of things that they do or fail to do. Someone can be titled has learning disability and it could simply mean that the person is too smart and don’t have control over it or cannot balance it the way it's supposed to be balanced. I had a hard time on this because I never knew that someone can be so smart and still label with disabilities. This also made to realize that some of this smart kid is smart and the smartness has overtaken them. I say this because when I was younger, I did not know this information, but know I can reflect on how one of my family members was so smart and the smartness took control over him and with him being smart he lack reasoning and organizing information. Whenever you teach him something he already know it, but whenever it comes to reasoning and organizing information no matter how much to teach him still does not get it. It is easy to notice the student that is not smart and easily label him or her. I came across a lot more definition and each one of the them is a lot similar but have one of two different information. Information processing is one of the biggest problems that students with learning disability have issues with, they don’t know how to process derision or understand when some of is joking with them. Even when you try to communicate with them, their attention level is very short, they have a hard time retrieving vocabulary. When it comes to processing information with students with learning disability it is very important for me has a teacher to slow thing down for the students. I know I may have a little hard time with this more first few months of teaching students with learning disability, because I may be going too fast for them before I realize it. Their processing level is all different and I believe has a teacher it is important to know each student and what the learning process is, and may be group them together. I believe going at a slow paste is a good, safe way to go so that no one is left behind and have the one that learn a little faster assist the one that is behind.

I do research on the challenges that occur when students with disability are having a hard time processing information. The challenges are normally being visual and auditory. Visual processing is how someone uses the data he or she sees, how fast they can comprehend something when he or she sees it and how well he or she remembers that information that are being taught. Some of the visual difficulties includes when a student cannot see the differences between myself and letter L or shapes, when student having a hard time seeing the difference in colors, shapes and pattern when student have a hard time locating information in the text, when students Skip information when reading or reading the same line over and over, when students find a hard time writing and staying in line when writing and when students have a hard time coping information on the blackboard. For students to learn they need to first see and pass the information to their brain and processing information to the brain is what education is all about.  The second challenges are auditory processing when a student’s use auditory sues to hear dater. Making sense how of sounds and keeping information. Some the of challenge are when a student has a hard time to tell the difference between similar sound, word, when the student struggle to understand spoken language, when Student having a hard time following direction, when students having trouble remembering what is being taught and when students are not listening at all to what is being taught.

The part two of the assignment was identifying one student who has a learning disability and in for this assignment I choose a student by the name of Bennie Watson was struggling with communication, she does not like to interact with people and can’t communicate with people and that is one of the areas she struggles. Bennie strength academically is math, she is good in math. Bennie struggle with communication she does not like to mingle with her peer especially when it comes to group studies, because the students take turns to discussing together and reading when they are in group studies. So, this keeps Bennie away from having friends and studying with them. Bennie keeps to herself and when she gets home, she does interact with her family at all, when she gets home from school she goes straight to her room and never comes out. Her family has already gotten used to her and just let her be. I think that is one of the reason way her communication and interaction skills got worst.
