What motivates people to work?
People need to be motivated to go work and make money might be one of the main reasons. Studies showed that there are many different reasons why people are motivated to work and that every individual has its own requirement for its workplace. Nonetheless the majority of them go to work.
When employees are doing a great job, and trying their hardest to complete tasks successfully, they like to feel appreciated and not taken for granted. This appreciation could mean a bonus at the end of the year or something as simple as the manager saying ‘thank you’.
Besides it is also important to keep work interesting by assigning a variety of tasks. It is more likely to feel unchallenged when working on the same tasks multiple times. A project or an assortment of functions to perform can challenge the employee and make a job more interesting.
Moreover, the motivation depends on the office size, the managements attitude and maybe even on the parking spaces, noises level and air quality. Employees will feel restricted when the office is too small or when they have to share their workplace. It is also demotivates them when the management is unfriendly and doesn’t appreciate their work. A high noise level, a bad air quality and finding the right parking space can make them feels stressed, uncomfortable, and unfocused, which impairs the quality of work.
